3. How do I submit my application(s) for the programs found on ACCESS NYC?
For the School Meals Program, you may submit your application online using ACCESS NYC. For all other programs, ACCESS NYC only determines potential eligibility and does not allow you to submit applications online. You must apply directly by submitting an application to each program through the current application process. You can view information on how to apply for each program in ACCESS NYC.

4. Can I print a form if I don't want to download Adobe Reader?

5. Why can't I print my application form from ACCESS NYC?
Your computer must be connected to a printer. If your computer is not connected to a printer, you may create an account so that you can return to ACCESS NYC to print your application form from a different computer.

6. Why can't I view ACCESS NYC in a language other than English?
ACCESS NYC is available in seven languages: English, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Haitian Creole, Russian, and Arabic. If you are having trouble viewing the program in any of these languages, you can click the 'Contact Us' link at the top of every page or dial 311 and ask for 'ACCESS NYC.'

7. Who has access to the data I entered?
ACCESS NYC deletes all of the personal information you enter. If you choose to create an account, the information will be saved for your personal use. If you submit a School Meals Online Application, the Department of Education will have access to the data you entered for the purposes of determining your eligibility for the School Meals program. 8. Why does ACCESS NYC ask for my name? I thought that the system was anonymous.
The personal information that you enter into ACCESS NYC is not saved. Whatever information you do provide will be available in the pre-populated application forms that can be printed. If you choose to create an account, your personal information remains private.

10. I can't finish screening myself today. How can I save my information so that I don't have to enter it again later?
You can create an account by clicking on the 'Create Account' tab or link. Creating an account will allow you to access your information at a future date by entering your user ID and password.

12. Why did my results change from Step 1 Screening to Step 2 Screening?
The preliminary results in Step 1 Screening are based on the responses to the first ten ACCESS NYC questions. After entering additional information about the household, ACCESS NYC can make a more accurate determination of potential eligibility. You can apply for a program directly to receive an official eligibility determination.

13. How do I get directions to a program office?
On the office locations search page, you can search for program offices and click 'Map It.' This will show exactly where the office is located on a map of the neighborhood. Subway lines and stations will be shown on the map for convenience.

On the required documents search page, you can search for documents by program. This will show the types of documents needed to apply for each program.

15. What happens if I forget my User ID or password?
For security reasons the ACCESS NYC Help Desk cannot reset passwords or look up old passwords. If you forget or lose your User ID, you will need to enter your information into ACCESS NYC again and create a new account. If you forget or lose your Password, you will need to correctly answer the security questions that you entered when you created your account.

You will need information about Household Members, Your Child’s School, Income, and Your Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or TANF Case Numbers to answer questions in ACCESS NYC.

No. You should not submit another application for the program unless your household size has increased or your income has decreased. Contact your child’s school to find out the status of your previous application.

18. How do I navigate through ACCESS NYC?
Navigation - Once you have entered ACCESS NYC, please do not use the Forward, Back or Stop buttons on your browser. Instead, use the ACCESS NYC navigation buttons on the web page.
I UnderstandI Understand - Clicking the I Understand button confirms that you understand the information on the page and will take you to the next page.
NextNext - Clicking the Next button will take you to the next page.
PreviousPrevious - Clicking the Previous button will take you to the previous page.
Save to ListSave to List - Clicking the Save to List button will save the information entered to the list.
ContinueContinue - Clicking the Continue button will take you to the next page.
CancelCancel - Clicking the Cancel button will erase all the information you have entered and return you to the previous page.
SaveSave - Clicking the Save button will save the information you have entered on the page.
YesYes - Clicking the Yes button will delete the information you have selected.
NoNo - Clicking the No button will not delete the information you have selected and return you to the previous page.
ExitExit - Clicking the Exit button will return you to the ACCESS NYC Home page. If you have not created an ACCESS NYC account, any information that you have entered will not be saved.
CloseClose - Clicking the Close button will close the page.
SearchSearch - Clicking the Search button will run an Office Location search for the zip code entered.
ClearClear - Clicking the Clear button will remove the zip code entered on the Office Location page.
Return to Home PageReturn to Home Page - Clicking the Return to Home Page button will take the user to their home page.
Exit ApplicationExit Application - Clicking the Exit Application button will save the information you have entered into the School Meals Online Application and allow you to exit the Online Application process. Your information will not be sent to DOE.

Asterisk (*)Required Information - When you see the red asterisk, you must answer the question. You need to answer those questions so the ACCESS NYC tool can see if you may be eligible for the programs.
The green asterisk indicates the programs for which ACCESS NYC determined the household may be eligible.
Drop-down Box - A drop-down box contains a list of possible options. To see the list, click on the down arrow. You may take action to choose the best option that will answer the corresponding question.
Check Box - By clicking the box you will select the option next to the check box.
Solid TabsSolid Tabs - Solid colored tabs indicate the section you are currently on.
White Tabs/Orange TextWhite Tabs/Orange Text - White tabs with orange text are enabled. You can click on the tab to go to a page.
White Tabs/Grey TextWhite Tabs/Grey Text - White tabs with grey text are not enabled. You can not click on the tab to go to a page.
Create Account TabCreate Account Tab - By clicking the Create Account tab, you will be taken to pages that allow you to save your information.

If you are an existing Medicaid/Family Health Plus client, you can renew your benefits by entering your Case #, SSN and DOB to retrieve your information. Once you log in, you will need information about Household Members, Income, Resources, Spouse/Parent Health Insurance, and Expenses to answer questions in ACCESS NYC.
