The following is information about how to apply for a particular program and the things you should bring with you.

Applying for Universal Prekindergarten (UPK)

Here are the things you need to do:
1. If you live in New York City and your child was born in 2011, he or she is eligible to attend Pre-K in September 2015.
2. Families can visit any public elementary school or borough enrollment office to pick up the UPK Directory which includes the list of public schools and community-based organizations (CBOs) that offer UPK services. The UPK Directory also includes the UPK public school paper application and a business reply envelope to mail the completed application.
3. Families will be notified about UPK placement offers and pre-registration instructions.
4. Families that receive and accept placement offers in the public school UPK programs, should bring their child and supporting documents that verify proof of child's age, address and immunization status to the respective public school during the pre-registration period. You can search for the full list of required registration documents in ACCESS NYC.
5. Families can also apply for UPK seats at contracted CBOs. A list of these CBOs is included in the UPK Directory. Families should return CBO applications directly to the appropriate CBO. The CBO UPK applications can be obtained from the CBO UPK site or from the DOE website.
6. Families can also apply for public school UPK programs online at http://nyc.gov/schools/ChoicesEnrollment/PreK/default.htm
